On Nov. 9, 2006 NASA's Cassini spacecraft photographed the huge storm, with a well-defined, human-looking hurricane-like eye. Upon doing research on my book, I stumbled on some interesting facts about Saturn.
In ancient times Saturn was regarded by all mankind as the supreme god. Some cultures believed Saturn was God the Almighty, and he actually walked upon the earth. He was the most feared of all the ancient gods, and sometimes referred to as Chronos/Kronos, Father Time, and the god of the harvest. This serious-minded planet/god is also the “Cosmic Taskmaster,” for he puts us through a battery of tests. Saturn still controls and affects our lives today. Often, we joke that turning 30 is scary or dreadful. This is a time many excel at their careers, get married, settle down and have families during this life stage. But there is also reason to fear this period of time. Saturn comes into our lives every 29 1/2 years for the “Saturn Return.” Saturn is a slow-moving planet and will take four years in your astrological sign, taking inventory of your life, bringing to light your deepest inner longings and true values. If you have not lived your life according to those values, Saturn makes you face your shortcomings through trials and great adversity. You will reap the fruits of your labor, however, if you lived life based on your values and beliefs, thus why Saturn is associated with being the god of harvest. However, if you have squandered your talents Saturn will make you face your failings and there will be hell to pay! As you approach your 30th birthday, you may experience the “judgment seat” of the Saturn Return. During this period many people get divorced, have adulterous affairs, lose jobs, have financial troubles, or experience deaths in their family. It is a period marked by great triumphs, adversity and instability. My vampire series “Eye of Saturn” explores the mythos surrounding Saturn—the wondrous planet, the superior god, and the influence he has humanity. ©2010-2025 Idalita Wright Raso. All rights reserved.
